Roberto Gil

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and educated at Harvard University, Roberto Gil trained as an architect before delving into furniture design.
In 1992 he joined Casa Kids Collection Design, Inc., a Brooklyn based design/build furniture company. In the year 2000, and in partnership with Big Moon Furniture, a Brazilian manufacturer, Roberto Gil created CasaKids, a collection of contemporary children's furniture.
Inspired by vernacular farm furniture, Gerit Rietveld, Donald Judd and the character of children's cartoons, Roberto Gil's designs are very simple constructions avoiding superfluous decorative elements.
Gil's line of children's furniture has been sold most recently at the MoMA Design Store in New York as well as at the following venues: the Guggenheim Museum Store, Barney's New York; the Whitney Museum's Store Next Door, FAO Schwarz, SF MoMA, and The Land of Nod. Ocean catalog, London; Asplund catalog, Tokyo; Dovetusai galery, Milano; Vilac, Moirans-en-Montagne, France and Tok&Stok, Brazil.
